From Cape Town or - even closer to us from Cape Town International Airport - take the N2 through Somerset West over Sir Lowry's Pass and the Houw Hoeck Pass passing Grabouw along the way. Near the village of Bot Rivier, take the R43 exit signposted to Hermanus. Drive most but not all of the way to Hermanus, passing signs for Hawston and Vermont as you near your turn off. At robots (traffic lights) with an Engen Service Station and Woollies on the far right and "Hemel 'n Aarde Village" on your left, turn left (sign to Caledon A320). Take the winding road through the Hemel 'n Aarde Valley passing Wine Estates such as Southern Right (on the right), Bouchard Finlayson (right), Sumaridge (Left), La Vierge (left) and - near your next turn - Newton Johnson (right).
Heading quite steeply downhill, with Four Seasons Farm on the left and High Season Holiday Chalets on your right, turn left into a dirt road with several signs including HEMEL 'N AARDE STUD (not to be confused with Hemel 'n Aarde Farm). Follow the road as you look across the Valley, downhill, across a flat cement bridge over a shallow stream, swing left uphill and towards the farm.
Coming from Stellenbosch - get on to the N2 and do as above
Coming from Worcester or in that region of the N1 - south through Villiersdorp towards Caledon, taking the N2 towards Cape Town but soon turning off at the R43 for Hermanus.
From the Robertson/Bonnievale area, either drive to Worcester and do as above or drive via Stormsvlei to the N2, turn towards Cape Town through Riviersonderand and take the R43 for Hermanus. (Do not take the earlier turn to Stanford (R43 Hermanus) unless you want the longer scenic route).
